Update: October 31, 2007: The legal argument has been expanded - go to "Why Not Pay?"

Don’t Pay For Custom Content!

Thinking about spending money to get custom content for your Sims 2 game? Consider this:

You can get all the content you want…

…and help out a charity or free site of your choosing…

…and send a message to paysite owners that your money is better spent elsewhere.

Now let me be clear. I believe player-created content should ALWAYS be free. A simple click here will take you right to the booty. No strings attached. However, if you have a little extra cash, why not send it where it will do some good?

I get nothing out of this, except the satisfaction that someone’s going to get some help. I’m an activist. I believe in helping those who need an extra hand, and paysite owners ARE NOT in that category, despite suggestions that we are keeping mothers away from their autistic children. Any paysite owner who needs money that badly needs to find a way to raise money legally. Give to those who are legitmately in need

It's money better spent.

Please note that I do NOT condone the piracy of free sites - nor does Paysites Must Be Destroyed. Any references to pirates hurting free sites with server attacks or bandwidth drains does not refer to either of these sites

About
I'm a pirate. Although considering I help ensure all TS2 content is free - according to the EULA, I'm more of a privateer. You can see some of my 'work' at paysites.mustbedestroyed.org. Arr.

I'm also a bit of a creator - check out my download site - Illusions of Grandeur.

I believe paysites are, if not strictly violating the law by violating the EULA, are certainly violating the spirit. This game is expensive enough without having to spend tens or maybe hundreds of dollars on content.

I do not want content creators who work on/for paysites to go away - there is a ton of gorgeous stuff out there. Rather, I wish for all paysite owners to see the error of their ways and go free...or post their creations on one of the many free sites already available. And if you simply MUST get paid for your TS2 creations, consider applying to EA.

And if you won't go free, I'll find any way possible to destroy your site.

'Cause I'm a pirate.

Thanks
Loving thanks to Jessica and Nouk for including me as part of the WickedNouk family.

Thanks to my fellow pirates at the Site Which Shall Not Be Named.

Thanks to the band of merry women at Insim, whose innocent questions have taken this fight to a new, exciting, and pressure-filled level.

Huge honkin' thanks to Duckie for the fantabulous html assistance. Further thanks to Jessica for her saving me from html hell.

Thanks to the many players/creators who not only support free sites but also encourage others to free the Sims.

Thanks to Thomas at The Sims Resource for making me so freaking mad I had to do something.

I won't thank Pescado, the godfather of the anti-paysite movement, because he absolutely hates thank yous. But he knows how I feel.
